Frequently asked questions
PROZONE® Fuelsaver is suitable for
all vehicles with internal combustion engines using gasoline (petrol) or
diesel fuel. It can also be used with two-stroke engines. PROZONE® Fuelsaver can
be fitted to vehicles already in use, and to new vehicles.
When fitted to a vehicle using unleaded gasoline with a catalytic
converter, PROZONE® Fuelsaver provides the additional
benefit of prolonging exhaust system and catalytic converter life.
PROZONE® Fuelsaver units are
available in 5 sizes to suit different engine capacities, as shown in the
table below. The final digit in the model number indicates the number of
alloy cores within each unit,ie. the FS4 contains four alloy cores:-
| Vehicle Type |
Engine Capacity |
Unit/model number |
| motorcycles, etc |
up to 1,000cc |
FS1 |
| cars & vans |
1,000 to 5,000cc |
FS2 |
| medium trucks & buses |
5,000 to 10,000cc |
FS3 |
| heavy trucks & buses |
10,000 to 35,000cc |
FS4 |
| ships and locomotives. |
above 35,000cc ++ |
FS5 |
A special model - the FS5 - has been developed for use with the
very large diesel engines found on ships and locomotives.

Whereabouts on my vehicle is PROZONE® Fuelsaver
fitted?
PROZONE® Fuelsaver consists of an in-line
flow-through chamber which is fitted to your vehicle's fuel line within the
engine compartment. Installation of PROZONE® Fuelsaver,
as close to your vehicle's carburetor or fuel injection pump as possible
(see below), can be carried out by any practical motorist or by a qualified
mechanic or trained automotive technician, and usually takes less than an
hour to complete.

How do I know that PROZONE® Fuelsaver
is working?
After PROZONE® Fuelsaver has
been fitted, drivers of gasoline-engined vehicles should quickly be aware
of an improvement in engine performance.
Drivers of vehicles with carburetors should drive for a further
2,000 to 3,000 miles (3,600 to 5,400 kilometers) before re-tuning the engine
for maximum performance.
Drivers of diesel-engined vehicles should notice a gradual
improvement in fuel economy and engine performance together with a reduction
in smoke emissions and diesel knock over a period of several months
until optimum operating conditions are reached.
Once installed, PROZONE® Fuelsaver will
continue working for more than 150,000 miles (240,000 kilometers), and exhaust
system and catalytic converter life will be prolonged as less corrosive gases
now pass through them.

Have any independent tests been
carried out on PROZONE® Fuelsaver?
Yes. Comparative before-and-after independent performance
tests of PROZONE® Fuelsaver have been carried
out over the past eight years by a variety of organizations in more than
a dozen different countries. These organizations fall into three categories:
1) academic and training institutes with specialized facilities
for testing automobiles and automotive accessories
2) organizations with specialist experience of certain types of engines and
vehicles
3) companies and individuals who have tested PROZONE® Fuelsaver under
the practical conditions relative to their own fields of expertise.
Extracts from many of these tests together with testimonials from satisfied
customers are given in the pages of Worldwide
Test Results and Testimonials.

I've just switched to unleaded
gasoline. Can PROZONE® Fuelsaver help?
Many motorists are being forced to switch to unleaded gasoline
(ULG) as governments around the world ban the sale of leaded gasoline. Drivers,
particularly of older vehicles, have expressed concern that ULG may have
a detrimental effect on their vehicle's engine.
Although most modern cars can use ULG, many engines need adjustment
to prevent pinking or pre-ignition, and to ensure smooth running.
Motorists switching to ULG are worried that adjusting their
car engines to use this environmentally friendly fuel may actually result
in less engine power and higher fuel consumption, especially under acceleration
conditions
PROZONE® Fuelsaver enhances
the combustibility of the fuel and improves power output and fuel economy.
The result is equivalent to an increase in the octane number of the fuel,
and enables engines already running on ULG to use the fuel without adverse
effects.
Engines previously adjusted to use ULG can now be re-tuned
back to manufacturers' specifications for leaded fuel performance while using
unleaded gasoline.

Air pollution caused by motor vehicles
- what are the facts?
Did you know that in a single year the average motor car produces
almost 11,000 lbs of Carbon Dioxide (CO2), 120 lbs of Nitrogen Oxides (NOx),
several lbs of Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) and significant quantities of other very
harmful pollutants, including Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrocarbons (HC) and
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
Although Carbon Dioxide (CO2) does not directly affect human
health, it is the main contributor to the "greenhouse effect" which increases
global warming.
Oxides of nitrogen (NOx) are produced as a result of the very
high engine operating temperatures typically encountered when the vehicle
is stationary or moving slowly in traffic. In the presence of VOC's and strong
sunlight, oxides of nitrogen form ground-level ozone, a major component of
the traffic smog which can damage lung tissue and aggravate respiratory diseases.
The picture below shows typical "ozone" traffic smog. When we talk about
being ozone-friendly, we don't mean that we are friendly towards ozone on
the ground; we are referring to stratospheric ozone or the so-called ozone
layer. To find out the difference, please go to our Ozone
Friendly Page.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is lethal in confined spaces, initially
inducing drowsiness and subsequently causing death when inhaled. Carbon monoxide
is formed when there is insufficient oxygen present to ensure complete combustion
of the fuel. It is particularly dangerous to people who smoke or who have
anemia or heart disease.
Medical reports have linked the formation of cancer and other
diseases to hydrocarbon particulates. Hydrocarbons (HC) are particles of
carbon soot emitted through the exhaust system as a result of incomplete
combustion. They can cause damage to lung tissue and cardiovascular disease.
Children and the elderly are at highest risk from the particulate matter
emitted by motor vehicles.
Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) is a factor in the production of "acid
rain" which acidifies soil and water, killing plant and animal life. It also
causes corrosive damage to buildings and is known to aggravate respiratory
conditions such as asthma and chronic bronchitis. The information for this
section on the damage caused by vehicle emissions is taken from Environmental
Defence, an excellent website devoted to informing the public
on health and environmental issues.· Go to their site to find out How Much
Your Vehicle Pollutes.

As can be seen in our Gas Emissions graph, PROZONE® Fuelsaver makes
a significant contribution towards reducing the levels of all of the above
pollutants.

Who designed PROZONE® Fuelsaver?
Although PROZONE® Fuelsaver in
its present form was patented as recently as 1995, the history of the development
of the underlying technology can be traced back to World War II.
At that time British Royal Air Force fighter aircraft were
sent to the Russian front, but were unable to operate efficiently on the
low octane fuel available. To solve the problem, scientists and engineers
prepared a fuel catalyst to act as an octane booster and to improve the combustibility
of the fuel.
Later, the original fuel catalyst was improved upon and additional
technology incorporated to form the PROZONE® Fuelsaver we
know today. Now the British company Fuelsaver Overseas Limited manufactures PROZONE® Fuelsaver and
holds worldwide patent rights. An outline of the history of the fuelsaver
technology can be found at the website of the International Tin Research
Institute at www.itri.co.uk/fcats.htm
